Important disclaimer

Dyslexia 504 Help provides general information โ€” not legal, medical, psychological, or educational advice. Nothing on this site is a diagnosis, and nothing on this site creates a professional-client relationship.

Screeners and checklists

Our screener summarizes publicly documented warning signs. No screener is 100% accurate; results indicate patterns, not conditions, and can produce false positives and false negatives. Only a qualified evaluator (such as a school psychologist or an appropriately credentialed independent evaluator) can diagnose dyslexia or any learning difference.

Legal and school process

504 and special-education law is federal but implemented differently by every state and district, and it changes. We describe the general process in plain English as of the date each page was verified; before acting, confirm specifics with your state education agency, your district's 504 coordinator, or a special-education attorney. A formal diagnosis is not required to request an evaluation โ€” but whether and how your school evaluates is ultimately determined by the process the law establishes, not by this website.

Providers and pricing

Provider names, prices, and program details are documented from public sources as of the verification date shown, and are examples โ€” not endorsements, referrals, or guarantees of availability or outcome. Always vet providers and confirm current pricing yourself.

In emergencies or crises

This site cannot help with emergencies. If your child is in emotional crisis, contact their pediatrician, a mental-health professional, or 988 (in the U.S.) immediately.
